Children should be picked up promptly at the end of the day, either by parking in the school parking lot in a designated spot or on the street in front of the school, or to the East of the school (Parking to the West of the school is resident permit parking only).

Parking laws are applicable within the parking lot. The yellow curbed areas in the parking lot are for active loading and unloading of passengers only. Please do not leave your car in the yellow zone unattended.

Parents of 2nd to 6th graders have the option of waiting in your car at dismissal time for your student, in the yellow curbed loading areas in front of the school building, as long as you do not leave your car unattended.

The parking lot gets very busy at the start and end of the day, we suggest arriving before 8:40am to allow time for your child to make it to class on time.

Daily Health Screening – stay home if sick

  • Parents/guardians must pre-screen their children at home, for any sickness symptoms before sending them to school.
  • If your child has any one or more sickness symptoms, keep them home and call us to discuss next steps: headache, sore throat, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath, fever of 100 or higher, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, body/muscle aches.
  • If your child develops any sickness symptoms during the school day, you will be called to promptly collect your child from school.
  • If your child has a chronic medical condition that could have symptoms similar to covid-like sickness symptoms, please ask the office for a Chronic Medical Form. This may exempt your child from being sent home if they present themselves to the health office, as long as there are no other symptoms.

 Health & Medication

Students are not permitted to carry medication on them at school, including pain relief medication or cough drops.

If a child is required to take any medication at school, including an Epipen, prescribed for him/her by a physician, the physician must complete an "Authorization for Medication Administration" form. To allow authorized staff to administer medication, parents should give the form and medication to the Health Office. Parents will need to submit a new authorization form at the beginning of each new school year.

If your child needs to take a medication for a short period of time during the school day, parents are welcome to administer the medication to their own child at the recess or lunch time.

Snacks / Breakfast / Lunch

Please send your child with a snack and a reusable water bottle each day. Cafeteria breakfast and lunch is free and available to all students, or your child can bring their own lunch if they prefer. Cafeteria Menus are available online: https://www.cvesd.org/parents/nutritional-services/school_menus

Breakfast is available 8:10-8:40am, students should enter through upper grade gate and walk around to the rear of the school building to enter the cafeteria.

 Attendance & Absences

If you need to report your child absent or sick, please call 619 421 6300 option 2 for Attendance or Ext 510110 or email [email protected]. You are welcome to leave a voicemail at anytime of day. Absences should be verified with a reason within 72 hours, otherwise they will go on your child’s record as unverified and unexcused. Please let us know if your child is sick and what their symptoms are, if they received a positive COVID test. Students must stay home if they are sick.

 Student Clothing

Tiffany School students do not wear a uniform. Flip-flop or open toed shoes should not be worn at school for safety reasons, footwear should be suitable for playing on the blacktop or field. We also suggest bringing a jacket or sweater in case the classroom or weather is cool.

TK and Kindergarteners – we recommend packing an extra set of clothes in a Ziplock bag labeled with their name and keeping that in their backpack, in case they get wet or have a bathroom accident.

School Supplies

The Chula Vista Elementary School District supplies everything a student will need during the school day, so there is no need to purchase pencils, pens, paper etc and there is no supply list. Sometimes a teacher may send home a donation list of things that would be helpful for the classroom, but it is not required.

We recommend students bring a backpack with them, big enough to hold regular sized copy paper and books. Also bring either a refillable water bottle or a bottle of water each day for hydration and a snack for recess.

Library

Tiffany has a library on campus that the students visit every 2 weeks. You will receive a library permission form to complete before your child checks out books.

Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) and Physical Education

We have dedicated dance, physical education and art teachers on campus and students participate in their classes every two weeks.

 PE & Running Track

Students participate in regular PE activities with their class. Students should wear closed toe shoes for safety. The school also has a running track, students are welcome to run, walk or jog the track before school from 8:10am, TK, Kindergarten & 1st graders need accompanied by an adult.

Transportation

Students attending Tiffany on a Zone Transfer are not eligible to ride the bus.

Once you register online, your child should be able to ride the bus the next day, please email the teacher to let them know they will be riding the bus.  TK students are not eligible to ride the neighborhood school bus.

Visit the District’s Transportation page online to register – you will need your child’s 6-digit student ID number:

https://www.cvesd.org/parents/my-child-s-school/transportation-information

  • Then click on the link: Transportation Application Form 2023-2024 / Solicitud de Servicio de Transporte 2023-2024

2nd & 3rd grade = 1 ¼ mile. 4th-6th grades = 1 ½ miles.

Kinder & 1st graders are accompanied by school staff to and from the bus on Elmhurst Street for their safety. Kindergarten students will only be let off the bus at their home bus stop, if there is an adult there to meet them. If there is no adult at the stop on time, the child will be returned to the school which will

Kindergarten students - for their safety, must be met at their home bus stop, on time, by a parent/guardian, otherwise the bus driver will keep them on the bus until they finish their route, then return them to the school and they must be picked up before the office closes. It is recommended that you arrive at your home bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is expected to arrive.

If there is a day where your child will not be riding the bus home, you can pick your child up from the Kindergarten gate at dismissal time and to give a heads up to the teacher, send them with a note in the morning to give to their teacher.

Kindergarten bus riders will be loaded onto the bus unless parents meet them at dismissal time at the dismissal gate, as staff are unable to take verbal instructions from a child.
